Brian has been Chief Executive of Arches Housing Limited since October 2007 and is also Association Secretary. He has worked in housing since 1997 when he joined the Finance team at Arches. During that year he was appointed for part of his duties to the Association’s Strategy Team. This was a team of three, responsible for the general day to day affairs of the organisation including finance, housing development, housing management, maintenance and regulatory compliance matters.
Brian has encouraged the board to expand its area of operations and has in the last few years resulted in Arches Housing being on the Rotherham registered housing provider panel for move-on homes. To continue to draw development funding from the Housing Corporation, now Homes and Communities Agency, Brian arranged for Arches Housing to join the “Synergy Partnership”, who is a Yorkshire based partnership of eight Housing Associations. He was also a member of Executive Team that worked to enable the association to become a recognised Black and Minority Ethnic Housing Association.
Brian’s previous career was in the private sector where he attained a position as Finance Director within a national steelmaking and engineering group. He followed this by being a partner in a local tool manufacturer until joining Arches Housing.
He is as a private sector representative of the Local Strategic Partnership board, Sheffield First for Safer and Sustainable Communities.
He is also a member of the Sheffield and District Board of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Brian is a voluntary Board Member of SPELL which is a community organisation which is responsible for education and life long learning in North East Sheffield. In addition he is a member of the committee of a local municipal golf club.
