Our community

Our connections with the local community are important to us. These relationships are useful in so many ways as they allow us to better understand the local community, build trust and share resources.

We find that we are able to achieve far more by pooling our efforts with others. We also find that connecting with other local organisations builds that one thing that all communities strive for – togetherness.

Over the years we will work with a range of organisations, some for one-off projects, and others more long-term. Here are the organisations we are currently working with and a little bit about them:

Pitsmoor Adventure Playground

This group have taken over the running of a playground that due to Council spending cuts was due to close. They have re-vitalised the park and delivered a series of community focussed events.

Burngreave Tenants and Residents Association

This intrepid group of Council tenants work tirelessly to improve the lives of the local Burngreave community. The types of activities the organise range from trips to the coast, newsletters and improving local parks.

Seventh Day Adventist Church

This faith group provide a range of activities including a weekly soup kitchen that we have recently supported.

Owlerbrook School

We have worked with this innovative school on several projects including community fun days and gardening projects.

Sheffield Eagles Rugby League

We recently started working with the Eagles as part of a group effort by Chevin Housing and South Yorkshire Housing. This was to provide some summertime local sporting activity in the Darnall area of Sheffield. The project has gained Big Lottery funding to continue the provision over the next year

Wensley Street Tenants and Residents Association

This is another Council-tenant led group we are working with to help improve the Wensley Street area of Page Hall. We have worked with them on fun days and provision of sports activities

We also support local events where although no formal organisation exists, the local people come together for the benefit of their area, such as:

East Street, Dinnington

We have provided litter picking equipment and at times join them on local litter picking events.

Britnall Street, Attercliffe

This is another scheme where local people join to keep their estate clear of rubbish, for which we have provided the equipment needed. We have also teamed up with Chevin Housing to jointly host fun days around springtime on this family orientated scheme.
